A comment that was made about the Monney Family!!

I just went back to the Victoria Advocate website to see if any more info. about the fire was posted. There was no new news but there was a comment left about the Monney Family by someone named Emmett and this is what he said:

The hardest part for those who know and love them, is that it is the Monney's who are always going out of the way to help us... They have given so much, helped so many people... I don't know how but I wish we can find a way to give back...

We can but try... Your in our prayers!

Thanks Emmett

A Sad Day for the Monney Family

We found out that my Uncles/Cousin business caught fire and burned last night around 1 a.m. No one was hurt! I am asking you all to keep my family in your prayers. We have faith in the Lord and I know he will bless and keep us as we go thru this tough time. Below I have put together a video and some pictures of the accident from the local newspaper on their website.

Here is a video that was on the Victoria Advocate website "the local paper"
http://www.victoriaadvocate.com/news/2009/dec/16/dt_firea_121609_78083/

An early Wednesday blaze caused extensive damage to a diesel mechanic shop in south Victoria, a fire official said.

The fire department was called to Southern Field Maintenance at 2004 S. Laurent St. after a neighbor reported hearing explosions and seeing flames about 1:34 a.m.

"It's bad," owner Lynn Monney said after surveying the damage. "All of the shop area is a total loss."

The offices were not burned, but suffered smoke damage.

Monney said he doesn't know yet what sparked the fire at the shop, which employs 14 people. The fire will prevent work being done in the shop, but the 25-year-old operation founded by Monney should be able to continue its field work, he said.

Shilo Monney, Monney's son and co-owner, asked customers to be patient as the company rebuilds.

"We'll come back," he said. "We have to. This is all we know."

Lynn Monney said at least no one was hurt in the blaze. Roger Hempel with the Victoria Fire Department confirmed there were no injuries and that the building was unoccupied at the time.

"We arrived and found heavy fire coming from the middle of the shop area, venting through the roof," he said.

It took 21 firefighters until about 4:30 a.m. to bring the fire under control. Resources called to fight the blaze included three engine crews, two ladder trucks, a medic unit, Hempel and an investigator.

"The building had a large amount of oil in it," Hempel said. "Then there were four vehicles involved, about three forklifts and a couple of large generators."

Happy Birthday Chad!!

The family got together to wish Chad a Happy Birthday today. We all had a great time. Chad was in a story telling mood so we had a good laugh at him. We had Bar-B Que and Nannie made Chad his very own Cherry cheese cake that he didn't have to share. So he really liked that part. This picture was taken more to show his brother Page who loves Texas Bar-B-Que.
Sorry you weren't here Page, we missed ya!!

Getting ready for Christmas

We got the Christmas tree up over the Thanksgiving holiday. We hadn't put it up for many years because we always went to Georgia for Christmas. So it took many hours but we got it up and the boys had fun decorating it. They boys got new ornaments this year- Cody picked out a snowman soccer player and Hunter picked out a cute puppy. Wishing you all a great Christmas Holiday!

Thanksgiving with Cody

I was so lucky to have Thanksgiving lunch with Cody this year at his school. Let me just say "Cafeteria food has come along way" since I was there. We had a great time together and he introduced me to some of his friends. It's sad to say that this was my last thanksgiving lunch with Cody as a elementary school kid. He will be in Jr. High next year. Time flies when your having fun.

Fun around the Fire Pit!!

We just got this new fire pit the other day and I got to take some pictures of us enjoying it. We roasted marshmallows and some hot dogs, the boys had fun. Hunter ate 4 marshmallows and one hot dog and then he was done with it all.lol
Cody stayed out there a little longer and we told ghost stories. His ghost story was from Sponge-Bob and he even acted it all out for Hal and I. Then Mom, Dad and Kami came by and we sat and talked for awhile. All-n-all we had a great time and look forward to the next time we get to use the fire pit again.
-Enjoy

Tough Love vs. Spanking - Good A rgument

My Sister-in-law sent this to me and I just had to share!!

Tough Love vs. Spanking - Good A rgument

Most people think it improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to control my kids when they have one of 'those moments.'

One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk.

Some say it's the vibration from the car, others say it's the time away from any distractions such as TV, Video Games, Computer, IPod, etc.

Either way, kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our car ride together. Eye to eye contact helps a lot too.

I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique.

Sincerely,
Your Friend

This works with grandchildren,
nieces, and nephews as well.

Mean MOMS

Mean Moms

Someday when my children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates a parent,

I will tell them, as my Mean Mom told me:
I loved you enough . . .
to ask where you were going, with whom, and what time
you would be home.
I loved you enough to be silent and let you discover that
your new best friend was a creep.
I loved you enough to stand over you for two hours while
you cleaned your room, a job that should have taken
15 minutes.
I loved you enough to let you see anger, disappointment,
and tears in my eyes. Children must learn that their
parents aren't perfect, but human.
I loved you enough to let you assume the responsibility
for your actions even when the penalties were so harsh
they almost broke my heart.

But most of all,

I loved you enough . . .
to say NO when I knew you would hate me for it.
Those were the most difficult battles of all.

I'm glad I won them, because in the end you won, too.

And someday when your children are old enough to
understand the logic that motivates parents,
you will tell them.

Was your Mom mean?

I know mine was.

We had the meanest mother in the whole world!
While other kids ate candy for breakfast,
we had to have cereal, eggs, and toast.
When others had a Pepsi and a Twinkie for lunch,
we had to eat sandwiches.
And you can guess our mother fixed us a dinner that
was different from what other kids had, too.
Mother insisted on knowing where we were at all times.
You'd think we were convicts in a prison.
She had to know who our friends were, and what we
were doing with them.
She insisted that if we said we would be gone for an hour,
we would be gone for an hour or less.
We were ashamed to admit it, but she had the nerve to
break the Child Labor Laws by making us work.
We had to wash the dishes, make the beds, learn to cook,
vacuum the floor, do laundry, empty the trash and all sorts
of cruel jobs. I think she would lie awake at night thinking
of more things for us to do.

She always insisted on us telling the truth, the whole truth, and
nothing but the truth.
By the time we were teenagers, she could read our minds
and had eyes in the back of her head.
Then, life was really tough!
Mother wouldn't let our friends just honk the horn when
they drove up. They had to come up to the door so she
could meet them.
While everyone else could date when they were 12 or 13,
we had to wait until we were 16.

Now that we have left home, we are all educated,
honest adults.
We are doing our best to be mean parents just like mom was.

I think that is what's wrong with the world today.
It just doesn't have enough mean moms.

Halloween Night

We went to a Halloween Carnival, at a local church before we did our traditional door to door Halloween trick-or-treating. So here are some pictures from the Carnival we went to. Ohhh yea! We had Cloe with us as well. I don't have any pictures of the "door to door" part of the night but it was great. Hal had to work that night and so we decided to go "trick or treating" with Shilo's family in his neighborhood. Chad, Brooke and Cloe came too. Wyatt was at a party with his friends. We had a really fun time and it was great to be with family. So here are the pictures I promised to show ya!
Here is Cody, Cloe and Hunter on the tricycle race. (going and coming)
This is Cloe and Hunter doing the toilet paper toss!! Very Funny
This is Cody and Hunter fighting as Gladiators!! As you can see in the 2nd picture Cody is the winner because Hunter is falling fast!! They had tons of fun in this one!!

All three of the kids played "Twister" and had lots of fun. In the end Cloe won, She did SUPER as you can see in the last picture!!
Hunter did great but he really just wanted to jump up and down. He did jump one time and messed everyone up and so we had to start a new game. Funnyand........ the winner is Cloe "she won by a split" Great job Cloe!!
